SS25 RUNWAY - TO KALI

MAX ZARA STERCK unveiled her new SS25 collection, TO KALI, a tribute to the strength and destructive energy of the goddess Kali. Known as the goddess of death, but also of rebirth, Kali invites us to let go of everything that no longer serves us, creating space for what truly matters. For Max Zara, that is craftsmanship and freedom of expression. The collection was showcased during her show at the atelier of the National Opera & Ballet during Amsterdam Fashion Week.

With her new collection TO KALI, MAX ZARA STERCK emphasizes the necessity of destruction in stressful times. She acknowledges that there are moments when, out of fear of losing control, she tries to hold everything together, even at the cost of her own well-being. This collection stems from a deeply personal process in which Max Zara sought a connection with Kali to break away from what no longer worked and to discover what truly holds value. "Break it, or I will break," says Max Zara. Through a unique collaboration with the National Opera & Ballet, Max Zara used dance as a foundation to embody the beauty of this intensity. Dance is a recurring element in her work, as well as a starting point in her design process: "Wearing clothing is not just about how it looks in an editorial, photo, or runway," says Max Zara. "It’s about how it moves, how it feels on the body, and the emotional connection it creates when worn.

The show opened with a unique music piece that incorporated a specially written poem, recited by Max Zara Sterck herself. Principal dancers from the National Opera & Ballet, alongside models, brought the show to life, inviting the audience not just to witness the clothing but to experience it. The evening concluded with a powerful live performance by Max Zara, adding a deeper emotional layer to the entire presentation. Each guest was given a rose quartz stone, completing the circle with love and support.
